Costa de Cocos - Information & Photos

Costa de Cocos
Where We Are:
A 4 hour drive from Cancun near the village of Xcalak.
Near the border of Belize.

Take Hwy 307 south from Cancun.

Turn left just past the community of Limones. It's about 55 Km. to the turn off to Xcalak, go right there - if you see the ocean, you've gone too far!
Follow the road south to Xcalak - Go left when you hit the dirt road - Go through town, Costa de Cocos is just a little north of town on the beach road.

Note: You'll probably go through some military check points - it's nothing to worry about, they are just doing their job and won't hassle legitimate tourists. Have your tourist cards handy.

Costa de Cocos Costa de Cocos, Xcalak, Quintana Roo - Fishing, Diving & Snorkeling.

Your total vacation experience is what we care about and your comfort is important to us. But what you do and see is also high on our priority list. This remote outpost, far from the world we know and very close to what we should care about, is a natural wonderland. Tropical and migratory birds are everywhere. The lagoons offer tarpon and bonefish. The jungles are habitat to a broad array of plant and animal life. A skiff excursion gives you a day's outing in San Pedro Town on Ambergris Caye in Belize. The fishing village of Xcalak and its 200 simple but very unique citizens give your stay at Costa de Cocos a tone and a touch not soon forgotten.

And then there's the diving! The 'star-of-the-show' is The Chinchorro Banks...a massive atoll complex sitting 1-1/2 hours off-shore. Chinchorro is a divers' 'banquet', setting the table with just about every undersea 'goodie' imaginable...reefs and walls, blue holes and wrecks. But, you don't need to go all the way over to Chinchorro for a great dive. The reefs right off our front door are in great condition and have something to offer both novice and experienced divers.

Flyfishing the flats at Costa de Cocos is truly world-class caliber. Slightly more remote and much less renowned than Ascension Bay, the Caribbean flats and Chetumal Bay offer abundant bonefish, permit and tarpon.
